I've read a few Harmony Raines books previously and I got this series was just too good to pass up. There is a sexual content but nothing lurid. These are not "clean" romances but they are not offensive.The stories are a continuous collection about Bear Creek, that feature characters who either know each other or become friends during one story and that carries over to the next story. The men are all bear shifters, most of them are older and believe they may never find their mate or think their mate is already married or even dead. The characters are likable and interact well with each other. The women have all been disappointed in love with a human and divorced or in one case a shifter lied to her about being her mate.The only negative comments I have are related to the character of the shifters; when they shift, their clothes shift with them so the shift is instantaneous; even if they are swimming as a shifter and are wet when they climb out of the water, they are dry when they shift back. That was a little unbelievable. There is very little world building. Also, some people know about shifters and others don't. That makes everything kind of surreal. But if you suspend disbelief (since this is a PNR, you've probably already done that). This is a very enjoyable read, I even ordered some more of her other collections. They are all quick reads of no more that 100+ pages.
relationships, shifters, romantic, family, family-dynamics, invested-eroticaI love these books! Each has a real plot including relationship issues, personal feelings, and other aspects of life regardless of whether shifter or what passes for normal human. These books make the reader feel part of the community and all are feelgood tales with happy ending. They are also short enough for a quick pick you up. If you don't care to read erotica, just skip that page but don't miss the story!
These are a fun collection of short related stories. There is not much character building as the insta\mate love definitely shortens the romance part of the story, however the stories are a variety of situations that keep your attention.
The Silverbacks and Second Chances Complete Box set was an enjoyable collection of stories. The plots were similar but had interesting solutions to allow a HEP ending. It was fun to have the complete series in one file which allowed me to read all six books as time permitted.
I enjoy Harmony Raines writting so much that even when I have read a book if it comes out in a box set I just have to get it to read again.
A good few interconnected stories here, with nods to a wider built world from other books, without being forced to read those first.
This series is definitely a must read for everyone over the age of 18. If you love second chances and believe in true love, this series is for you. Once you start to read, you won't be able to put it down until the very end.
Must be 18 to read! Great characters and plots. Steamy scenes and lots of love of friends and family. There are several typos in each book which can make you stop and wonder and reread the passage to make sense, but otherwise I recommend!
