This well-organized, chatty yet meaty guide book is all you need to assist you on a trip to Sri Lanka.We went to Sri Lanka in the high season (February, when the place is full of Germans and other Europeans) and the only reservation we made in advance was two nights at the Galle Face Hotel (see Columbo chapter, where to stay, top end), a fabulous old relic of colonial architecture. With the help of the Lonely Planet, we "winged" everything else: train tickets to Kandy, car rental, dive trips & bungalows on the southwestern beaches. Sri Lanka is a diverse, fabulous place to explore, and the Lonely Planet made it super easy.Great historical chapter "Facts About the Country" makes for good reading while you're waiting for your cold lassi to come to the table.

This book goes into deep detail about Sri Lanka. Being a Sri Lankan myself resideing in Australia. I found this book defintely worth taking on your trip. The best thing about the book is, that as new devolpements come, the Lonley Planet website allows you to upgrade (free of charge) the information in it, by you downloading the new revised pages. As long you keep the book updated the book will always have the latest information. This is not-only this guide book, but for all of Lonley Planets guide books. Normally I would give this book 4 stars, but for this feature alone 5 stars is worth the effort.

I literally know nothing about basketball, yet alone college bsaketball. With March madness, a friend recommended getting this book so I understood what all the fuss was about. I was hesitant about caring, about whether a book would suffice etc but needless to say, this book killed it. I loved the way the book started you off at the beginning and allowed your experience evolve with the book. It's really crazy to see how crazy american culture and basketball can be. I don't live or breathe it but this book changes that perspective. So many people, so many coaches, that are driven by the love of the game. It's cool to learn more about all of the coaches too, it's crazy how much coaches can drive a player. Highly recommend this book

This book is a master! If you know very little about college basketball, “Rising Above the Madness” will give you a brief history and overview to enable you to join in the conversation about the games. If you know all about college basketball, you will still learn details and stories about the top ten coaches (J Wooden, P Allen, A Rupp, D Smith, M Krzyzewsi, B Knight, J Tarkanian, J Boeheim, L Carnesecca, J Calhoun) that were the best of college basketball (photo). Each chapter provides a biography that gives the key as to what drives the coach. His childhood is discussed and you learn how that made the coach who he was. We learn their strategies and how they interacted with their players. The book is well researched, and the research is turned into engaging stories – the stories that applaud the coach’s accomplishments and make college basketball come alive during March Madness.

I feel so much more invested in my bracket now that I have a background and a history to put to some of the top teams. I have really enjoyed learning about the early careers and team-building strategies of the top coaches. As a North Carolina resident, I especially liked the biographies of Dean Smith and Coach K. These really added a human face to the rivalry that surrounds me every winter and spring.This book is also written at a reading level that would be appropriate for high schoolers, so I think it would be an excellent gift to inspire a young person who loves basketball and is interested in learning more about leadership. Each biography contains a lot of good lessons about how to maximize your own skills to find success.

This version does NOT come with a flute part. It only contains the piano accompaniment. I'm disappointed that the product description didn't mention this important fact.

This book is a must read for any advancing flutist. These highly demanding pieces require attention to counting, tone, articulations, phrasing, finger fluidity, etc. They each have slower, highly demanding tonal sections and faster, highly demanding technical sections and these often overlap. (I recommend listening to a recording to get an idea, though recordings are often played faster than the learning flutist will play it.) I learned these expressive pieces during high school through college and now, 10+ years later still love playing pieces from this book. If you are a flutist looking for music that will stretch you and enjoy French Classical composers (like Debussy, Gaubert, Faure, etc.), then I recommend this book. (Note: there are no Debussy pieces in this book.)As to print quality, the ink is bold, clear and a readable size. Piano score is readable (average fonts). I have not found any errors, just one note where the ink did not print fully (Andante Pastoral, page 38, measure 5).

DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT. EVERYONE ELSE WITH THE REVIEWS ONLY WANTED THE PIANO PART. THIS ORDER DOES NOT COME WITH THE INTEGRAL FLUTE PART. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS.

I'm an intermediate flutist who is very serious, and these pieces are definitely challenging! I can't wait to get Faure's Fantasie up to speed! There are a lot of lesser known French composers in this book that are more than worth getting familiar with. There's no Debussy or Ravel, but you'll make a lot of new 'friends' along the way.Nicely printed, and even though I bought used, I received the Flute and the Piano parts. Score!

I enjoyed playing the selections in this book. It was one I was glad to add to my collection, I found it challenging yet fun.

New book with both flute and piano part.

This product did not come complete. It had only the flute part with no piano accompaniment. I am very dissatisfied.

This set of scores is an essential part of every flutist's education. Plenty of teachers will quibble with Louis Moyse's editing, but these pieces are an essential part of the repertoire.

I normally don’t cry in movies or books. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever cried in a book before.Until now.Now.. I’ve sobbed.The incredible depth of this novella really surprised me; I typically think of novellas and short fiction as not having time to develop the characters enough to truly know and relate to them. This book has so much depth. I felt instantly that I had bonded with young Sarah Miller. And with Tucker O’Shay.Joanne Bischof showed her talent with This Quiet Sky. Descriptions that encompassed my senses. Characters who leapt from the pages (or rather, from my ipod, since I listened via Audible). Scenery that transported me in a very realistic sense to the hills of Appalachia in the late 1800s. All of these were present in this story.This book captured me at a level I’m not sure I knew was possible. Down into the very depths of my soul.My heart ached for Sarah, for Tucker. I connected with them, with Tucker’s need of a good friend, with Sarah’s compassion and desire to reach out to him. Although very different circumstances, I can relate to the fear that I know Tucker felt, because I’m a survivor of the disease that he had. I’m sure he had friends prior to this diagnosis, and I hurt for what he lost. Tucker’s thoughts and the way he pondered life, the way he set out to enjoy the moments that he had, dreaming as if he had all the time in the world, living with a grateful-to-God heart for his every breath.. these traits wove such a real character. I can relate to Sarah, as her heart breaks for Tucker, for his family, for herself… because I have been on this side too.If you have the opportunity, I highly encourage you to listen to Gail Shalan read this book. She added a uniquely beautiful dimension to an already heartwarming, soul-gripping, tear-provoking book. I will be adding the paperback to my permanent book collection, but I will absolutely be listening to this audio book again and again as well. Very rarely do I feel like I could finish a book, turn back to page one, and begin again immediately. This book compels me to do so.I would liken this story to dark chocolate. Very dark chocolate. Something like Ghirardelli’s Intense Dark Chocolate Sea Salt Soiree. The blend of flavors is delicate and perfect. But so very intense, daring you to take the next bite. Go ahead. Do it. Listen. Read. I can’t promise you won’t cry — in fact, I’d encourage you to be free to let this story affect you deeply and permanently. Let God use it in your heart. You will not regret it.

Oh, my heart! This story brings so many words to mind - tragic, yes, but also triumphant, poignant, tender, and beautiful. This is one of the more well-done novellas I've read. It is a complete story, and it is just long enough for a story of such depth. Perhaps it's a bit heavy, yes, but it's not without hope, nor is it depressing. It is real and features true-to-life sadness. Even knowing that this story was probably going to go a certain way, I still read eagerly, loving the prose and that unique quality of writing that is entirely Joanne Bischof.The characters came to life for me. Sarah is a lovely. I loved her realism, and I related to her so much - especially her shyness and her lack of math skills. Tucker O'Shay starts out as her tutor, then becomes much more important to her as the story progresses. Tucker is just one of the best characters I've "met" this year. His friendship with Sarah is special and tugged at my heart. They choose risk instead of safety, and though it brought them pain, it was ultimately the best choice. I feel richer for having experienced their story.The epilogue does a nice job of answering questions about Sarah's future, and it also connects nicely to the characters in the Cadence of Grace series (though I've only read book one of that). I also thought that perhaps a new happiness was on the horizon for Sarah, but that could have just been my romantic heart finding things that weren't there. Regardless, it provided a lovely sense of closure.

This was a beautiful story of young love, written thoughtfully and artfully. Written in first person, I immediately became the main character, Sarah, and lived through every emotion. Having read the Cadence of Grace series, I felt a great connection to the characters in the story and the picturesque location, however, I'm sure this would have happened had I been a first-time reader. A Christian message of trusting God was woven delicately into the story and didn't feel forced. Please, please, please Joanne can you write another novella about Sarah, this time in her thirties! I would love it. I can't rate this book highly enough.

Okay, I'm not a cryer -- but this book had be in tears. It was truly lovely.I read the blurb, so I thought I could keep some distance. But Joanne Bischof is a master at pulling you into a story. I loved Sarah, she was so authentic. And how could I not care for Tucker? He was brave and smart and fun. The way their story played out - and the lessons that they learned - will stay with me for a long time. This book beautifully illustrated the truths that God cares for each of us and He never stops giving, no matter the circumstances. But so often we don't see the gifts until we shift our perspective.I can't recommend this novella strongly enough. But be sure you're near a box of tissue. You'll need them.
