Good:The guide has multiple things going for it. Its very well organized for starters. It has sections for 7/14 day itinerary, must sees and day trips. I don't have kids but the book is very much oriented to a planner planning activities for kids.Could improve:Every destination needs to have an address. I use a smart phone and I need an address for my GPS. Some of the addresses listed in the book are old school road directions. They are my handicap.Don't really need the map bundled in the book. I would be surprised if anyone really uses themSome of the suggestions are dated. There are newer better places that people could visit. But the places listed in the book are still the must seeThis book needs to catch up to the world of Yelp, Groupon etc. It needs to mention that one can find a groupon for a tourist place etc. Maybe all old school pocket guides need to do it.

This guide really helped us plan a week of exploration, beach time, and food in Oahu.We found several good suggestions that allowed us to be off the main beaten path and make the most of our vacation.The only two small drawbacks are that at times it's hard to find what you are looking for (there are several cross references in the book),and the map in the back is not detailed enough to navigate the roads.I would definitively recommend it.

We had never been to Hawaii so this book provided a great overview. We referenced it a lot while there and it is small enough to carry along with lots of great information. I love that it is broken up into the day to day format so you can prioritize your sightseeing depending on how long you have to stay on the island. Frommer's has done a great job once again.

I bought this book previous to my trip to hawaii. I've used these books in the past and they are great. The gives you everything you need to know from the must popular spots to see to the unknown areas. It even tells you when certain attractions are closed, what their hours of operation are, or even the cost to get in. this is a very useful tool!

I recently spent a week on the island of Oahu with this book as my guide. I didn't encounter any wrong information and I really liked the map that came along with it. My only complaint is I wish it had named and reviewed a few more restaurants.

A very good basic guide book to Oahu. Gives many different options in exploring the island. It does repeat a lot of the information and if all the repeated info was taken out of the book would be about half of it's original size. It also lacks bus routes infor in getting to the sites, which would be beneficial.

I have three little boys who play Little League. The oldest (who is 10) started playing two years ago. I love baseball but my playing experience is limited.Around the time my oldest took interest in the game I started taking him to the local training facility for lessons. I noticed recently that the facility owner changed up the way he was teaching his Hitting Camps. He mentioned that he is now following the information in this book and suggested I read it.Well, after reading the book (and getting on the same page as the coach) it all makes sense. I can see a pretty big difference in power coming from my boys since following the training in this book. Easy read and the examples are great!

This is a great book with sound principles. I appreciate that Joey tests his theories, and still allows room for change and improvement. My assumption on the negative reviews is that they are likely from people who are not interested in new information and techniques. There are no lack of old school experts in baseball. One does not need to be a former professional with years of experience to become educated on any subject. I recognized bad parenting before I had children, and my children are almost adults and I am still no expert.

I don't disagree with the concept of the book but I think it could have been better written. The first half of the book is dedicated to explaining to you Joey's credentials and why you should believe him. The "meat" of the book has good ideas but is written almost like a series of tweets. The author frequently uses short one sentence paragraphs and liberal use of the bold font. It also directs you to URLs that you will have to type in on your computer. It's a tough read. Looking back, I probably should have looked for an EBook version of this or just found his Youtube site rather than trying to read it on dead tree.

Really like the scientific, principled approach to getting the most power out of your swing game. Clear, step-by-step, useful instruction, examples, illustrations and training videos. Very to the point without a lot of editorializing about self. I learn by applying, re-reading, adjusting my model until I'm comfortable with the integrity of applying what I've learned.There was nothing I did not like about this book...it's a keeper! Great information for coaches and players, alike...even old active players like myself.

If you want to learn about hitting this is the book to get! I have used the principals in this book and it helped with my son's hitting. He's a contact hitter and batted 0.560 last summer following the methods in this book. If you are serious about helping and improving your player, or players, in baseball or softball with their hitting than get this book!

Awesome book detailing the hitting mechanics elite MLB players use-past & present. I tried Joey Myer's hitting methods for the first time off of a tee, and literally hit the ball better and barreled it better than I ever had in my entire life. Joey teaches a hitting philosophy that is safe for the body, but also biomechanically perfect. I wish I knew these techniques when I was younger, I would have been the best hitter on my high school team.

Some good info to make a power hitter. I coach 14u softball this year and we applied most of the stuff in the book and saw a 10 mph increase in batted ball speed on average for each of my 12 girls.

I've followed Joey Meyers for a few years now and he's right there with the few top hitting coaches in the nation. This book appears to be a quick read, but it's filled with great information and goes into great depth to fully explore various theories.I highly recommend this book.

I'm not a photographer, but my brother-in-law has a fine art photography business, and I thought this would be an interesting read. The level of research done by the author is very thorough! The information is well laid out and easy to follow. I feel a lot of the advice in this book could be used for other types of artistry as well, including my jewelry design business. I think any artist is keen on getting their work seen by as many people as possible, and may contact every potential outlet without getting the result they want. Kara's point about researching what type of work each gallery represents, and aligning yourself with those that best fit with your aesthetic to be very valuable. In addition to creating the work, there's only so much time we can spend on marketing ourselves. I found her advice about researching galleries first and targeting the best potential match to be a great way to go about it. It's all about targeted marketing.

You'd be hard pressed to ferret out this information on your own. Save yourself a few years and accelerate your career NOW...! Concise and presented in clear language, this is accessible to everyone. Essential guide for anyone looking to get their work in front of a larger audience.

Fine Art Photography GuideThis book will give you the facts on how to earn art gallery representation. The author has interviewed numerous high level galleries. She presents the most common roads to success such as portfolio reviews. She also profiles several currently famous and gallery represented photographers and explains how they reached stardom.I learned so much by reading this book. For instance, one of the galleries said that some photographers are overdramatic when they show up with white gloves for their artwork. Fine art galleries know how to handle artwork, and don’t need to be handed white gloves. I found that funny because I saw a famous fine art photographer do a presentation at Imaging USA, and he specifically recommended taking two sets of white gloves, one for the photographer and one for the curator. Myth officially debunked.I bought both the paperback and the Kindle version so I could easily reference it when traveling, but I also wanted a hard copy I could highlight and dog-ear. This is my new favorite reference book.It is also a great inspiration to get out of my comfort zone, try some of these approaches, build several bodies of work, and hopefully hang on the walls of the most beloved galleries.I will recommend it to all my photography guild friends.

It was disappointing. The book is 96 pages, all text. So it's short. That could have been a good thing had it not been both pedantic and wooden. She makes clear that she wrote this from research. However, it's lifeless. The examples are all at arm's length, and not at all engaging. She does provide a mechanical description of processes and relationships. Had any of them been engaging or compelling, the book would have a life it lacks. Therefore, it's rather overpriced.In addition, the softcover appears to be an inexpensive on-demand production. Within 24 hours the cover curled badly. So it won't be finding a place on my shelf because it can't.

The author is very helpful. I am in the process of following this path.

I have often been told I should be a professional photographer. I have listened halfheartedly to that compliment and smiled accordingly. However, after reading Kara Lane's book not once but twice, I may have renewed interest in making my photography more than an avocation and giving it a try.Kara's book provided a step-by-step, comprehensive overview of how to obtain gallery representation. Not only does it provide an overview, it is filled with specific references and recommendation. Too often, "anyone can do this" and "how to" books are filled with generalities and encouragement...lacking true substance. Kara Lane has given real references and insights from professionals.Read it and learn!!!
