Very well-written and well-structured, this is a must IMO for anyone who is serious about time series analysis.

This book provides a fairly elementary view of the vast subject of time series analysis. It easy to read and the author provides lots of basic calculations. Typically, such books stay away from the cutting edge topics but not this one. It is quite complete. I highly recommend it to anyone that knows a few basic things about time series and wants to take it much further.

I love this book - it provides an excellent introduction to the core of multiple time series. I especially like the discussions on cointegration and granger causality, which have proven to be extremely useful in practice. I would recommend it to anyone.

With a lot of demonstration and simples examples!!! Well written and complete! Recomended for every one who's study time series.

I think "New introduction to multiple time series analysis" is not an introduction level book. You must have a high level inference knowledge. Beyond this, you must be familiar with a high level knowhow in algebra and a very good level of a calculus course. Some numerical methods are explored in the book too. Essentialy it deals with multiple time series models. If you are a beginer on the subject an introductory course in univariate time series will be strongly needed.

It's a great compilation of principal techniques of multiple time series models and inference. In addtion a very useful matrix properties and formulas list in appendix.

The second book of the series continues directly where the previous one ended. It’s a very good book, very enjoyable. The MC has a little development, he realizes some new things about the Wish world and the game mechanics (mainly that although he feels like the most badass warrior, he’s not); and for the most part he remains likable. In some moments he was a little annoying, having the stupidity trait of his Class turned up to eleven, he almost lost me a couple of times. The new characters are interesting; I love Ula the hobgoblin; not so much Thelia the red elf, but it looks like she will have her time to shine in the next book. The plot is very simple (too simple maybe), and it looks that it will continues to deviate from the original starting point in the coming books. This is weird, because in the first one the college and their lives in there appear as something very important (specially for Holly and Nadia); but I don’t see them coming back to College any time soon. Looking forward to the next book!

Dan is back with his beautiful sidekicks and the adventure continues! (I will try to keep the spoilers to a minimum)This time his adventures take him away from the familiar grounds of Penn State and into the forest to help a lost friend, save a bunch of lives, and...meet Holly’s parents.The author did a good job of building on the established characters. It was great to get some additional insight into the characters of Holly and Nadia. There are also many characters that are introduced that I truly enjoyed and hope to read more about in Book 3! (Dan the Destroyer)One of my favorite new characters is Ula, a strong, crude hobgoblin that can handle herself quite well in battle, and enjoys challenging Dan at every chance she gets. It seems like she will be a large part of book three so I won’t spoil it, but I am sure you will enjoy their interactions.Another character turns into a major player at the end of this book and a major twist is added, so I won’t go too much into it, but it should be fun to watch it play out with Dan, Nadia, Holly, and Ula as the story progresses!Dan spends some time saving some elves and gnomes that would have been screwed without him. The fortifying of Fire Ridge and, in particular, a new weapon that is introduced, was one of my favorite parts!The action is pretty much non-stop and it is all very well written and flows nicely. Again this falls more in the gamelit category than LitRPG, but there is a part where it goes through some updated stats and damage numbers. (I’m a nerd and really enjoy those parts)I was sad that my favorite character from book 1 (Wulfgar the vulgar sword) did not play as big of a role in book 2. I really enjoyed the humor and dynamic that Wulfgar brought. I hope he shows back up eventually in future books.There is a pretty steamy sex scene almost immediately in this book. Definitely 18+. Again, as with book 1, the sex stuff isn’t exactly why I am enjoying these books, but the scenes are well written, and flow well with the story. (By the way, if you didn’t know, Dan is a pretty lucky guy)Where this book left off has me itching for the next one, which I’ve already preordered.These books have been fun and easy to fly through. The characters don’t take themselves too seriously and that definitely helps when it comes time to root for them.I can’t wait to start on book 3. I can guarantee, if you liked the first book you will love this one!

So first of and most importantly good story. However, the author is super inconstant in writing the MCs actions especially if you read the first book. So here we have Dan who let himself be picked on for 20 years of his life. However in the second book he irrationally freaks out about Holly's brother and starts a fight with him despite everyone asking him not to. So fine maybe he is being overtaken by the barbarian impulses but nope he is die hard about not increasing his women which not only was stated multiple times as something normal for barbarians but also something he get a disproportionate amount of experience for. Gaining levels being something he keeps saying he needs to do. He freaks out when pushed to help some slaves reach home so they don't die in the forest. Supposedly this is because he is worried about the wizard but when he first got the message he couldn't really be bothered to care and the second time he was to drunk to remember. But then for some reason it becomes the most important thing ever to him, oh but he still had time to get his tail kicked by Holly's brother before they set out. That apparently was a worthy cause. Anyway good story just a ton of cracked out actions on the part of the MC that don't really make sense with who he has been presented as so far. It leaves you felling annoyed and confused by his actions.

I have been waiting for months for the follow up to dan the barbarian and this book was everything I hoped for and more. The characters are back fighting enemies of all kinds including Dan's dreaded in-laws. My only question after reading this book, is when will next in the series come out because I can hardly wait.

This was a very exciting and fast paced story. The characters keep getting better, much deeper and real. Dan is growing and his character filling out. The story is evolving and pulling you along with it. Need to read the next book!

This is a gameLit story with a Harem, and includes adult situations. That, this is a engaging adventure with a sometimes quirky mix of fantasy, with some urban fantasy elements. Well worth the price. I intend to purchase book 3 as soon as I finish posting this review. Fun stuff. Recommended.

Fantastic continuation and growth for the characters and story. Dan started to really disappoint me by not really acting like a gamer. Glad I stayed with him because he really started acting a lot more heroic as things progressed. The story left me with a warm heart and lots of emotion. This looks to be getting real exciting the future. Bravo!

Dan the Adventure is a fun, quick second book in the series. I like Dan, he’s the every man’s hero, he doesn’t do everything right, and makes mistakes, but is surrounded by an interesting supporting cast. Lots of action and the battles are well described, the story is very smooth. Good stuff.

Antonio “LA” Reid has been a key figure in shaping the sound and experience of popular music for over twenty-five years—as a record producer, songwriter, and label executive. Reid first broke into the music world in the 1980s as the drummer for the R&B band the Deele. Along with bandmate Kenny “Babyface” Edmonds, Reid made his move behind the scenes of the industry in 1989 when he founded LaFace Records. Prior to becoming chairman and CEO of Epic Records in July 2011, Reid also served as chairman of the former Island Def Jam Music Group from 2004 to 2011 and as president and CEO of Arista Records from 2000 to 2004.Reid’s excellence in the music world is not limited to his work as an executive. Winner of eighteen BMI Awards, he’s also a talent in his own right. Reid has produced and/or co-written dozens of number one singles and has won three Grammy Awards. Ever since I was a kid, I had heard LA Reid's name in passing. But it wasn't until I read this book that I really knew what he did for a living since the late 1980s.Sing To Me takes you on a journey through Reid's life as a child growing up in Cincinnati, Ohio; the period when he was a drummer for Pure Essence (later named The Deele); his marriage to Pebbles; being a father to his four children; and then of course his career as a music executive for various record companies.I would say the most interesting parts of this book to me was when Reid described the triumphs and tribulations he endured with Pure Essence/The Deele; his musical and real life friendship with Babyface; the 1989 to 2005 period of his career as a record executive at the LaFace and Arista record companies; and of course, I enjoyed the areas of this book where he expressed his feelings on whether he felt fulfilled and fully praised for what he contributed to the music business for over 30 years.Meanwhile, after the chapter which dealt with Mariah Carey and her comeback album, The Emancipation of Mimi (2005), I kind of lost interest. But I still kept reading and learning about the music business from Reid.Don't get me wrong, I seriously enjoyed this book, but after the Carey chapter I wasn't as captivated. And that's just me. I've never been interested in music that came out after 2005.Buy this book if you want some serious insight into the music business.

The book was interesting. I'm always curious to know what drives an individual to achieve success and LA Reid explained it in his book. My only disappointment is the fact that he felt compelled to name the luxury hotels (way too many times) and other places that he stayed in or visited. I don't think it made a difference to the reader what hotel he stayed in, the Pierre or the Marriott, it really had no bearing on or added anything to the story he was trying to tell. It came across as name dropping! LA's story is one of perseverance coupled with a sense of know how. It is inspiring and a map for those in the record industry who aspire to greatness of how the game is played. I now know the backstories of the relationship with BabyFace, Usher, TLC and others!

Bought the book after hearing his various promotional talks for it on the radio and youtube. Sing to me delivers on the many firsthand accounts of how LA Reid developed the early music careers of countless stars, which is truly a unique perspective on the business. It may be worth buying for this reason alone for some readers. But I have to give it two stars because of the poor writing and some glaring content holes. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to the order of events/chapters in the book, making it really hard to follow. You'd think it'd be fairly easy to make it chronological, this being a biography and all, but nope, it just skips around. It was so disorienting that I couldn't finish the book after enduring 2/3 of it. The level of writing was also pretty disappointing. LA Reid in his interviews comes off as an articulate, sophisticated guy, but the writing was at a middle school level. Regarding the content, what really drew me in initially was LA Reid's "talent for finding talent." But it stops there. He never goes into his creative process, and I'm not going to buy that it's 100% intuition - there are tools of the trade he's learned and cultivated for decades. There has got to be a way for him to at least describe his thinking, but it's all really superficial - "she had the voice of an angel" or "he had such swagger." Perhaps he doesn't want to reveal his trade secrets, but one or two would've sufficed. I paid money for this after all.

I loved the description Part Memoir, Part Business Book and Full Time travel down memory lane.I completed reading this book in 3 days. The book really picks up for me after LA meets Babyface meets Pebbles. The three of them moving to Atlanta did so much for the music industry and the world. They were able to discover some of the biggest talent in the South and I do not believe they get their just due for that.It's true that music marks time and reading this book, remembering the songs and pulling the videos up on YouTube took me back to a carefree time of my life being in college and experiencing life with loved ones who were still living then.The anecdotes on how Babyface got his name and how he HATED it in the beginning, the story of LA Reid and Babyface writing "End of the Road "and "Love Should've brought you Home" for Anita Baker and her not really feeling them. Those two songs created Hall of Fame careers for Boyz II Men and Toni Braxton. LA Reid taking his boss's Clive Davis Job.. and still having to meet with him. Then in the biggest turn of events losing his job after bringing two of the biggest Artists of Arista & selling 10Million records each - Pink and Avril Lavigne. Who in the hell gets fired for making MONEY!!!?? That shows you Corporate Politics are REAL.To listen to LA Reid describe his biggest regret of dropping Lady Gaga.. you can hear it.. Damn near feel it. He rebounded by helping find Justin Bieber.Overall, GREAT BOOK.. Great insight into the music business and what happens behind the scenes. It reminds of a Doug Morris quote LA says in the book.. "It's better to be lucky than to be good."This book was based on both. Do yourself a favor, and buy it.

Reading this book has helped to see the man who was and is behind the many wonderful talents the world has come to know. He's a living legend and I'm thankful he took the time to share a little bit of his world with us. I can't help but look at musical artists differently knowing what I know now. Hopefully our paths will cross one day and I can share my thoughts of this books with him in person.

By optimizing for profits in a capitalistic world the media goes for the stories that garner the most attention while also being the easiest to write about. And you know what ticks both those boxes? Outrage. Fear, anger and hope drives people, and the stories are abundant. Marketing companies realize this and have weaponised the media through creating what appears to be news and important information but really is just a powerful method of advertising their product. Read this and you'll never look at a news article in the same way again.

Ryan Holiday poses a serious and frightening consequence to online media: it's cheap, easy, profitable....and sometimes sinister. His bottom line that there is a vicious food chain of online media that starts from independent blogs to national blogs and eventually Main Stream Media (MSM). What brings me greatest consternation is that his thesis is that online media's first priority is not quality content, but the number of page visits/views because it equals revenue. As he states in his book, iterative journalism is cheap but to do journalism (as we come to expect) correctly is expensive. We as readers would to be able to trust what we read because we believe that news outlets have the best intention in minds for its readers, but in the end it is a high octane competitive business and if you are not first, then you are last. Bloggers and journalists get paid by the number of views so the more totaling the topics or subject line is, the more they get paid. What about to fact checking? Interviews? Getting both sides of a story before publishing? In the world of blogs, there are no editors and fact checkers. It is moves up a chain to feed news outlets on the current topics of today. This book is a scathing indictment on the blogosphere and traditional media itself to use people in either to build or destroy for the sake of advertisements and page clicks. Media manipulation is at the front and center and I know begin to question everything that I read and click. Let's see what the future holds, but I am more inclined to start reading traditional papers after reading this book.

Really strong, concise, and disturbing. Holiday writes it as a cautionary tale and a bit as redemption. I've read a lot of this in other sources, but this is the best synthesis I've found. He basically tells you how it works - what to do with it is up to you. I don't agree with all of it - but all the more reason to recommend. Gave me a lot to think about.

Ryan Holiday takes the reader into the murky and confusing world of blogs, those who wrote them, publish and read them. Holiday confesses his role as a manipulator in the system. He is extremely critical of blogs and bloggers as well as the publishers who support them. Holiday states he has no solutions to the damage blogs have caused to countless individuals and companies. However, in his concluding chapter, he slips in a couple of potential remedies, which I won't divulge.The reading is fairly dry. It's not one that one can read continuously.

I've seen some of Ryan's interviews, so I knew what the book would be about. Even so, I expected a little bit more. The book is good, but what was said could have been said in less pages. Basically, be controversial and everyone will write about you, with some other information. Still a good read, but I pushed myself to finish it.

I have a feeling that this is a very important book. It is an autobiographical work by someone who deeply understands today’s media culture. He describes with great insight the economics of blogging, how the current iteration of the media works, and how its flaws and weaknesses can be exploited. He used these weaknesses to his advantage in his early career and later wrote this book expose the flaws and hopefully prevent others from being able to exploit them. Interesting topics include what causes something to go viral, how blogs pay their staff, and why the often perverse incentives in the industry can lead to negative outcomes. These outcomes should not happen in a society where the media is functioning properly. I got the chance to meet Ryan Holiday at a book event in DC recently where he gave a very entertaining talk. I am currently reading his latest book Conspiracy and I am loving it thus far.

Holiday uses as example his own media manipulations as foundation for his thesis: modern blogo-journalism is hopelessly broken. When content is dictated by expected clicks rather than insistence on accuracy, the stories on sweatshop blogs cannot help but be fake news. Natural selection insures that the stories with the greatest lurid appeal are the ones most likely to rise to the top; even ultimately to appear as seemingly legitimate stories on the mainstream media. Please read this. Learn to distrust everything you read online. I plan to try to fall for fewer clickbaits. Maybe I'll succeed.

This is, in my opinion, a must read book. You can see just how the "fake news" gets promulgated throughout media, how money and click bait is preferred to accuracy, how reputations are ruined in nearly the blink of an eye, and how people are duped into accepting news stories that lead to the wrong conclusions because they are geared to create anger. Anger or outrage is the key to readership, so misleading headlines draw in viewers. In the end accuracy, truth, and many people and businesses are ruined because corrections or updates are buried or lost in the rush to get out more titillating "news."

The book came early, and in great shape. I have almost read it, and I love it! Thank you.

A fully comprehensive, up-to-date and well organized compendium of sustainable design and construction techniques, this book seems to keep fining its way onto my desk again and again for various projects. There are piles of publications on sustainability, this one however, is profound in its completeness, usefulness and quality of information.

My grandson will graduate in architecture this year and this book was on his "must read" list.

I am a licensed architect and LEED AP, refocusing my professional career more toward sustainable design and this guidebook seems to be a good library reference with checklists included to break it down. It is slightly out of date with 2006 copyright, but the principles remain the same. Just the LEED ratings systems has been updated since printing. I like the Case Studies, helpful for real world application.

I am a property owner considering LEED Certification for a building remodel. As a starting poijnt, I have read the LEED guidelines at the Green Building Council website. However, I was looking for something more substantial to help understand the process. "The HOK Guidebook to Sustainable Design" fills that purpose.This Guidebook is written by the HOK Architectural firm which has been one of the leaders in sustainable design. The book has three sections. The first chapters are a check list of design guidelines and questions that one needs to explore during the LEED design process. The second section looks at sustainability issues as related to certain building types and the final section are a series of short articles on LEED projects the firm has worked on.This Guidebook is on its Second Edition and is invaluable for all those interested in LEED certification. It is well written and clearly organized. It is an expensive book but well worth the price. It is a great introduction into what is becoming an important area of design. Highly recommended.

Not worth the time it takes to read or the $$ to buy it. There is no new information here. Most of the ideas seem to have been pilfered from the USGBC LEED Reference guides. At most this book could be used for a quick reference
