Exactly what I was hoping for. I've always admired the artwork of the TCGs, but I just couldn't pull the trigger to buy them because I am not really interested in playing. So when I found out about this book, I just had to order it.Some of reviewers gave this book a lower rating because they expect more "The Art of ..." book, and they are correct about that. This book does not contain the art concepts, sketches, or the thinking behind the design. It does however contains a lot of beautiful arts and explanation on/story behind the world, including the races, beasts, creatures, etc.
These books are very large (physically and with 280+ pages) and filled with awesome background information and amazing artwork. If you are a fan of Magic and don't know a lot of the back story these are a great way to learn some of the lore.
All of the books from this series are astonishing. The imagery is surreal and the writing, simply brilliant. This book provides everything about the plane. It gives an amazing storyline that follows the card sets and a short history of the cards in the set, but the real power of the book is the images and the story, which makes up 95% of the book.You do not need to know anything about mtg to enjoy these wonderful books.Highly recommended for anyone that likes fantasy.
Beautiful book printed on thick, high quality pages. The art is stunning, and the added stories are wonderful. The book itself is very large and perfect for a coffee table! I think they really hit it out of the park with this book, it's everything I was hoping for and more!
I always enjoy when stuff like this comes out. The art is what originally got me into magic. Also, the story is interesting (though quality differs between the writers of the “official storylineâ€) when written like in these books.
Once again, Wizards puts out a wonderful book chalk full, not only of truly breathtaking art, but enough lore to make any DM/GM swoon. Plenty of information about each piece of Kaladesh lore and history, and then how the Planeswalkers fit into this particular plane. If you buy this book, you will not be disappointed. Well done Wizards/Viz Media!
This was a Christmas gift for my grandson. He's a fan of the game and was delighted with the beautiful artwork. These are HUGE books. For some reason I wasn't quite expecting that.
Bought as a gift for hubby and he loves it! Super big and thick book, great detail, artwork and story.
