About the Author
Tom Phelan had just turned fifty when his first novel, In the Season of the Daisies, was accepted for publication. That novel was later chosen by Barnes and Noble for its Discover Great New Writers series. Since then, Phelan has written five other novels: Iscariot, Derrycloney, The Canal Bridge, Nailer, and Lies the Mushroom Pickers Told. Born and reared in Ireland, he now lives in New York.

First, thanks to #NetGalley for the opportunity to read an e-galley of this book. I enjoyed this book so much! It was just many chapters of the life of author, Tom Phelan, growing up on his family farm in Ireland.My Mother grew up on a farm in Canada. Tom's stories were not so different from my Mother's stories of life growing up. The people, places, sights, smells, all just a little bit of one's history. Wonderful memories, so well written! I could just picture all of it!#NetGalley #WeWereRichandWeDidntKnowIt
Anyone who has read Irish writer Tom Phelan’s novels knows what an immense talent he is. "We Were Rich and We Didn't Know It," a beautifully written, often funny, and sometimes sad memoir of his early life on a farm in Ireland, shows us the seeds of that talent. This wonderful book is one I will read again. And again.
Wonderful vivid memories of his life growing up in Ireland. You can visual the home and town. All the love that was shared by the family is felt through his words. Love it!!
